Shankar Ramchandra Panhale was awarded Padmashree in 1973 for his social work. He was also awarded RAOSAHEB title by the British in 1935.
 
Shankar Ramchandra was started in the year 1905 by Shankar Ramchandra Panhale. He started with a modest background of repairing furniture. Slowly and steadily the business grew and he ventured into auctions. In 1953 his son Shyam Shankar Panhale who was awarded Gold medal later in his life joined him.
 
That time Shankar Ramchandra conducted auctions for clients like Dsjasal & BPT, Customs, and Tata Oil Mills etc
 
In the year 1978 Shyam Panhale convinced Government of Maharashtra to shift to auctions from tender. The Government agreed for auctions. From that day the business started looking up and till now we have not looked back.
 
In 1981 TELCO now known as TATA MOTORS entrusted the work to us and we are still continuing with the work. Now Shankar Ramchandra is being managed by Asha Shyam Panhale wife of late Shyam Shankar Panhale and Sangeeta Panhale Daughter in law of late Shyam Shankar Panhale who is also the Managing Director and who has been awarded the Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Award for the outstanding achievement by the company under her guidance.
 
Today Shankar Ramchandra conducts regular auctions for clients like Tata Motors, ACGL Goa, Fomento Goa, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, Customs & Central Excise, Walchandnagar Industries Ltd., Tata International, Central Ground water Board, Irrigation Department – Government of Maharashtra, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, Pune Municipal Transport, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Transport, Pune Municipal Corporation.
